Drain Commissioners and their staff are responsible for many aspects of surface water management. The Drain Commissioner develops design standards for storm water runoff management in new developments, and is involved in agricultural, commercial, and residential drainage; storm water management; lake levels; soil erosion; water supplies and sewer systems.
